What are Protractors?

A protractor is a tool we can use to measure angles.

A protractor comes in most geometry sets but you can find an online protractor to use as well.

Using Protractors

• A protractor has two scales from 0 degrees to 180 degrees.
  • Each scale starts from one end of the protractor to the other end.
  • On each side of the protractor there will be a 0 degree start and an 180 degrees end.
  • This way the protractor can measure angles from left to right or right to left.
• How to measure an angle with a protractor:
  • Place the midpoint of the protractor on the VERTEX of the angle.
  • Line up one side of the angle with the zero line of the protractor (where you see the number 0 degrees).
  • Read the degrees where the other side crosses the number scale.
